Thad Collier

Interim Pastor

Thad was born March 12, 1947 and was reared in Lewisburg TN in Marshall County. Thad and Linda were married October 28, 1989, 30 years ago. They moved to Murfreesboro in 2019 after Thad retired from the ministry. They have 3 adult awesome children, Rachel 27 (and her husband Blaine), Jacob 25 and Joshua 21.

Toward the end of a four-year tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force, in 1972, Thad received Christ as his Savior beneath the wing of an F-106 Jet Fighter in Minot, ND. This life-changing experience with Jesus redirected his thinking, understanding and worldview.

After being discharged from the Air Force he sensed a calling into the ministry. He attended Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham AL. and Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta GA. for seminary.

Thad is a lifelong Methodist and has preached for 45 years. He preached for three years before his first fulltime ministry assignment and then after ordination at age of 30, he preached for 42 years, beginning on the Tennessee Ridge Charge in Houston County as pastor of four churches. Counting Salem he has pastored 13 congregations.

Thad says, “It is with deep appreciation and great joy that I come to Salem Methodist Church to be your pastor for a season.” Jesus is Lord!

Joel Tompkins

Social media manager

My name is Joel Tompkins and I am the  social media manager for our small church...
I enjoy the ministry behind our social media existence as it gives me the opportunity to chat with folks who I may not get a chance to speak with on a daily basis...
I'm blessed to have a job that gives me the freedom to check the social media accounts several times a day and I do my best to answer questions that come up as quickly as I can...
So if you are on Facebook or Twitter and you are curious as to whom you chatting it up with...
It's me!!!
I encourage you to reach out and bring me any story that might be of interest to the church and / or our community...
My only request is that it is well written
so that I can copy and paste to our
News From The Pews Page and you will get credit for the story...
You can reach me by email at:
I look forward to hearing from you!!!
