I know you are praying for those impacted by last night’s storms. Please add to your list the folks at Dodson Chapel and East End. Preliminary reports indicate that both churches suffered significant damage. Bishop McAlilly and Cumberland River District Superintendent, Scott Aleridge are reaching out to the pastors of those churches today. I will update you when I receive more information.
I am thankful for your willingness to support our neighbors. Many of you have already called to ask how you can help. Government Officials ask that only those trained as first responders report to impacted areas at this time. In the days to come there will be opportunities to help in tangible ways and the Tennessee Annual Conference is already working on organizing those efforts. The chair of the Tennessee and Memphis disaster response ministry, Robert Craig, has met by phone with UMCOR and the communication team for the Tennessee Annual Conference. You will receive information later today on how your church can help. Robert Craig’s email address is DisasterResponse@tnumc.org and here is a link to our conference disaster response web-page. Tennessee Annual Conference Disaster Response Web-page.
Once again, thank you for your prayers and for your warm heart.
I look forward to witnessing all the ways God works through you to bless our neighbors.

Salem UMC will be collecting
NEW or GENTLY USED stuffed animals
every Sunday during the month of March...
These stuffed animals will then be given
to our local Rutherford County EMS crews
who at some point will have a call that
involves a small child...
What better way to calm a distraught child???
If you can donate one (or a dozen)
the EMS crews would appreciate it...
You can simply leave them in your pew
and they will be collected after worship.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Methodist Church officially supporting Scouting.
February and March are the months for celebrating Scout Sunday.
Salem will celebrate Boy and Girl Scouting on 16 February.
Please bring any memorabilia from your own scouting experience.
We will share some stories during the morning fellowship and there will be space
in the fellowship hall to put exhibits and post stories.
