Holiday Safety

Salem UMC wants your Holiday season to be safe.
As you go thru the house to get ready for the family to gather, please remember that kids ( young and old )
will be going thru closets and drawers and cabinets looking for early Christmas presents.
This is the time to secure your medication.
Bring your old/expired medication in for destroying.
We have the drop boxes set up for recycling cell phones for the battered women's shelter,
medication for destruction, and old eye glasses or recycling.
Make your home safe for the holiday season.

Salem Elementary Looking For Guest Judges

Posted on November 5, 2019 at 12:20 PM Comments comments (0)

Salem Elementary will be holding our first ever Amazing Shake competition on November 14th
and we would like to ask you to be a guest judge!

Here are some details:

When: Thursday, Nov 14th from 9am-10am (please arrive in the front office at 8:30 for prep)

Where: Salem Cafeteria

Who: 5th grade students

What: Use a rubric to score students on the quality of their handshake
and their initiation of a conversation in timed rounds.

Based on the scoring from this first round of competition, the top 2 students from each class will go on to a second round of competition on Nov 26th. At that competition they will be judged on table manners and on holding an opinion during a conversation.

The top two from that round will compete at the County level at the Chamber of Commerce in January.

We would truly appreciate your involvement in this endeavor!
Please let me know your availability by Nov 11th.

Best Regards (and thank you for all you do to support MCS!!)
